As a kid, you probably had some fun times playing around with Playdough. You know, the goopy substance that kids love can actually be used for adults as well in a way you may not have even slightly considered. Surprisingly, Playdough makes a great, effective, and cheap household cleaner.
You may feel skeptical at first, but Playdough is a great tool to clean small, hard-to-reach places like laptop keyboards.
Plus, it works especially well to clean the car. Car washes can get most of the work done for you, but they can’t clean the little crumbs and smudges in those hard-to-reach places. However, the goop works perfectly.
To make this even easier, you can create your own cleaning goop similar to Playdough that will work even better and save you more money.
Here’s what you’ll need:
½ cup water
1 cup warm water
1 measuring cup
5oz. school glue, either clear or white
½ Teaspoon Borax Laundry Booster
Your favorite food coloring
Begin by adding the Borax powder to 1 cup of warm water, stirring until the powder has completely dissolved. Set this aside.
As a great activity for the kids, you can even have them help! Next, pour the glue in a mixing bowl with ½ cup warm water adding several drops of the food coloring of your choice. Blend everything together until the mixture becomes smooth.
Then, pour the Borax mixture into the bowl. While you mix, you will notice the mixture feels wet and gooey. A shape will even start to form.
Knead the goop with your hands until it begins to feel firm and dry, and discard any leftover liquid.
As you knead, the goop will begin to feel firmer.
Use a Ziploc bag or any airtight container to store the goop for as long as you wish and break them out whenever it’s time to clean!
This DIY cleaning goop is fun and really cleans areas that may have been difficult to clean before. Even your kids will love cleaning with it and helping to make it!
